1
ואמר דוד האית בא עוד די אשתאר לבית שאול ואעביד עמיה טיבו בדיל יהונתן:
yhwnthn bdyl Tybw emyh waebyd shawl lbyth ashthar dy ewd ba hayth dwd wamr
David said, “Is there yet any who is left of Saul’s house, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

ולבית שאול עבדא ושמיה ציבא וקרו ליה לות דוד ואמר מלכא ליה האת ציבא ואמר עבדך:
ebdk wamr tsyba hath lyh mlka wamr dwd lwth lyh wqrw tsyba wshmyh ebda shawl wlbyth
There was of Saul’s house a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “I am your servant.”

ואמר מלכא האית עוד גברא לבית שאול ואעביד עמיה טיבו מן קדם יי ואמר ציבא למלכא עוד ברא ליהונתן לקי בתרתין רגלוהי:
rglwhy bthrthyn lqy lyhwnthn bra ewd lmlka tsyba wamr yy qdm mn Tybw emyh waebyd shawl lbyth gbra ewd hayth mlka wamr
The king said, “Is there not yet any of Saul’s house, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “Jonathan still has a son, who is lame in his feet.”

ואמר ליה מלכא היכא הוא ואמר ציבא למלכא הא הוא בית מכיר בר עמיאל בלו דבר:
dbr blw emyal br mkyr byth hwa ha lmlka tsyba wamr hwa hyka mlka lyh wamr
The king said to him, “Where is he?” Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”

ושלח מלכא דוד ודבריה מבית מכיר בר עמיאל מלו דבר:
dbr mlw emyal br mkyr mbyth wdbryh dwd mlka wshlkh
Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.

ואתא מפיבשת בר יהונתן בר שאול לות דוד ונפל על אפוהי וסגיד ואמר דוד מפיבשת ואמר הא עבדך:
ebdk ha wamr mpybshth dwd wamr wsgyd apwhy el wnpl dwd lwth shawl br yhwnthn br mpybshth watha
Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, fell on his face, and showed respect. David said, “Mephibosheth?” He answered, “Behold, your servant!”

ואמר ליה דוד לא תדחל ארי מעבד אעביד עמך טיבו בדיל יהונתן אבוך ואתיב לך ית כל אחסנת שאול אבוך ואת תיכול לחמא על פתורי תדירא:
thdyra pthwry el lkhma thykwl wath abwk shawl akhsnth kl yth lk wathyb abwk yhwnthn bdyl Tybw emk aebyd mebd ary thdkhl la dwd lyh wamr
David said to him, “Don’t be afraid, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father. You will eat bread at my table continually.”

וסגיד ואמר מה עבדך ארי אתפניתא על גבר הדיוט דכותי:
dkwthy hdywT gbr el athpnytha ary ebdk mh wamr wsgyd
He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look at such a dead dog as I am?”

וקרא מלכא לציבא עולימא דשאול ואמר ליה כל דהוה לשאול ולכל ביתיה יהבית לבר רבונך:
rbwnk lbr yhbyth bythyh wlkl lshawl dhwh kl lyh wamr dshawl ewlyma ltsyba mlka wqra
Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master’s son.

ותפלח ליה ית ארעא את ובנך ועבדיך ותיעול ויהי לבר רבונך מזון ויתפרנס ומפיבשת בר רבונך אכיל תדירא לחמא על פתורי ולציבא חמשת עסר בנין ועסרין עבדין:
ebdyn wesryn bnyn esr khmshth wltsyba pthwry el lkhma thdyra akyl rbwnk br wmpybshth wythprns mzwn rbwnk lbr wyhy wthyewl webdyk wbnk ath area yth lyh wthplkh
Till the land for him—you, your sons, and your servants. Bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have bread to eat; but Mephibosheth your master’s son will always eat bread at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

ואמר ציבא למלכא ככל די פקיד רבוני מלכא ית עבדיה כן יעבד עבדך ומפיבשת אכל על פתורי כחד מבני מלכא:
mlka mbny kkhd pthwry el akl wmpybshth ebdk yebd kn ebdyh yth mlka rbwny pqyd dy kkl lmlka tsyba wamr
Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do.” So Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table like one of the king’s sons.

ולמפיבשת ברא זעירא ושמיה מיכה וכל מותב בית ציבא עבדין למפיבשת:
lmpybshth ebdyn tsyba byth mwthb wkl mykh wshmyh zeyra bra wlmpybshth
Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. All who lived in Ziba’s house were servants to Mephibosheth.
